The village was classified as an appellation en cru in the southern part of the Rhne wine growing region in 1990. The vineyards cover nearly 1,200 hectares and are situated on the left bank of the Rhne River in the communes of Vacqueyras and Sarrians in the Vaucluse department. The soil consists of sandy and gravelly
